  • Urban planning for an aging population in a warmer climate


    The research project HEAT, which focuses on urban planning for an aging population in a warmer climate, has been granted eight million SEK in research grants from FORMAS, a government research council for sustainable development. The project includes researchers from Jönköping University and from the universities of Gothenburg, Lund and Umeå.
  • JU part of new national research school in health innovation


    A new research school in health innovation has received just over SEK 25 million in grants from the Knowledge Foundation, at the same time, the participating universities and collaborating organisations are investing around SEK 80 million. The research school will be coordinated by Halmstad University and is a collaboration between seven Swedish universities, one being Jönköping University (JU), the business community, regions, and municipalities.
  • Lecture on the media image of cannabis legalization


    On Friday 17 December, Ernesto Abalo, School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University, gave his trial lecture for the appointment as associate professor in media and communications. The lecture was entitled "Cannabis legalization, the news media and how the deviation became legitimate".
  • Great exchange when the research school met at JTH


    The research school Smart Industry Sweden had its first seminar on 7-8 December at the School of Engineering (JTH), Jönköping University (JU). The purpose was for the doctoral students and other participants in the initiative to meet up, exchange experiences and create new collaborations.

    In a new thesis, PhD Cinzia Sansone from the School of Engineering at Jönköping University argues that, by focusing on the right capabilities, manufacturers who exist within high-cost environments, such as Sweden, can, in fact, gain a competitive advantage without having to move operations to low-cost countries.

    Nerrolyn Ramstrand, professor at the School of Health and Welfare, Jönköping University, has for many years worked to support orthopedic technology projects in low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia. She and a group of international researchers have now received funding from the Swedish Research Council to develop a work that has begun in Cambodia.

    The media and communication research at the School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University (JU), is this year (2021) for the first time on the influential university ranking Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU, also called the Shanghai ranking. ARWU ranks research at universities throughout the world in different subjects and on multiple criteria.
  • 7 million SEK awarded to research on skills supply for Swedish metal industry


    Researchers from Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), the School of Engineering (JTH) and Uppsala University, have received 7 million SEK in funding for KOMPET, a multidisciplinary project that will identify and develop concrete activities and measures to drive development in securing a skills supply for the Swedish metal industry.
  • Five million SEK to research about stress during life


    Professor Ingemar ”Pingo” Kåreholt at the Institute of Gerontology, School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University has been awarded SEK 5,1 million from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond for the research project Stress across the life course and late-life cognitive and physical function: Which modifiable social and lifestyle factors affects the association? The project will investigate the connections between different types of stress over the life course and physical and cognitive ability in older ages.
