Book an appointment with the Academic Language Center to get support and tips on how to develop your text.
Book a session with the Academic Language Center if you would like support and tips on how to improve your writing.
We can help you with:
- The structure and the coherence in your text
- Source integration and referencing
- Language and academic style
Book an appointment
- Contact us at academiclanguage@ju.se to book an appointment.
- We recommend booking your session at least two days in advance.
- It is often possible to book a session on short notice, depending on our workload. In such cases, we may need to spend the first part of the session reading your text.
- You do not need to have a finished draft to book a session. You are welcome to schedule a meeting at the very beginning of a course assignment or thesis writing process. We can help you get started with your writing or discuss structure and organisation.
- If you are working in a group, we kindly ask that all group members attend the session.
- You are welcome to book multiple sessions per semester, but only one session can be booked at a time.
- Please remember to email us and cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend!
Before the appointment
- Submit your full draft, including your teacher’s instructions, by emailing academiclanguage@ju.se no later than 24 hours before your scheduled session.
- If your session is on a Monday, please send your text by Friday—unless otherwise agreed.
- Feel free to mention if you would like to focus on a specific aspect of writing or a particular part of your text during the session.
- We read a maximum of 3–5 pages of your text and prepare tips and feedback to discuss during the meeting.
What happens during the appointment
- A session lasts approximately 45–60 minutes.
- The session is a learning opportunity where you receive advice and practical tools to help you develop your academic writing. Of course, you are also welcome to raise any questions or aspects you would like to discuss.
- We provide only oral feedback. You are responsible for taking notes during the session.
- We do not proofread or correct the language in your text.
- You are the expert in your subject area. We do not comment on or assist with subject-specific content. Instead, we focus on structure, language, and style. We also do not assess whether your text meets grading criteria.
- The goal of the session is to support your growth as a writer.
You are warmly welcome to contact us at Academic Language!
