Jönköping University (JU) awards the "Alumni of the Year" award to former students who have made outstanding contributions in their professional role or as an individual distinguished themselves with a deed that JU considers worthy of attention. JU appoints the Alumni of the Year during October. Everyone is welcome to make suggestions on who should be nominated. The award is given to an alumnus from each university college and also JUE (Jönköping University Enterprise)

This year's ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 2, 11:15-13 in the university library.
11:15 - 12:00 mingle with light refreshments
12:00 - 13:00 award ceremony and panel discussion with alumni

The process

  1. Utifrån inkomna förslag nominerar ledningsgrupperna för respektive bolag två personer med jämn könsfördelning till Årets alumner.
  2. Ledningsgruppen på Jönköping University utgör jury och rekommenderar kandidater till rektor som därefter utser de alumner som ska erhålla utmärkelsen Årets alumner.
  3. Under oktober månad bjuds årets alumner in, fysiskt eller digitalt, till en gemensam ceremoni följt av ett panelsamtal anordnat av Career Center.
  4. Alumnerna kan sedan bli inbjudna till sina respektive fackhögskolor/bolag för att till exempel hålla en föreläsning eller delta i en arbetsmarknadsdag.

Criteria taken into account

  • The alumni must have completed and graduated from one of JU's companies.
  • The alumni has achieved something extraordinary in their career, in a special commitment or something worthy of attention and which is linked to JU's vision and guiding principles. For example, it can be about entrepreneurship and innovation, collaboration, community involvement or an important cultural deed.
  • The alumnus has an interest in being an ambassador for JU and a role model for current and future students.
  • It is meritorious if the alumnus has been involved in JU's activities or the Student Union.
