Time for Jönköping University's Sustainability Week

On 6–10 November, Jönköping University (JU) Sustainability Week takes place, a sustainability week where JU’s schools and University Service together with Students for Sustainable Action (SSA) arrange various events with a focus on sustainability and the Agenda 2030 goals. During the week, lectures and seminars will be held with themes such as Jönköping 2030, transforming cities, “Projekt Flicka”, and then there will be the launch of JU's Sustainable Development Goals Dashboard.

Jönköping University works actively to contribute to sustainable societal development through education, research, and cooperation, as well as to reduce JU’s climate footprint in various parts of the business. One of JU’s five strategies for the period 2020–2025 reads “We contribute to a sustainable future.”

“As a university, Jönköping University has a responsibility for development towards a better environment and sustainable social development. The companies within JU work actively throughout the year with sustainability issues, and JU Sustainability Week is an opportunity to shed light on the issues,” says Agneta Marell, President at Jönköping University.

JU’s commitment to sustainable development takes several different forms, including participation in the regional Climate Council, the Environmental Diploma Project, “Mötesplats Social Innovation” as well as work with equal opportunities. To facilitate and enable visualization of how the companies work with the various categories of Agenda 2030, a tool, JU’s Sustainable Development Goals Dashboard, has been developed and this is now being launched during the sustainability week.

“The SDG Dashboard is a platform for visualizing sustainability work and a catalyst for researchers, teachers, and students at JU to get inspiration from each other. An additional goal is also to contribute to the entire region doing more for sustainability and to achieve the goals expressed in Agenda 2030,” says Agneta Marell.

All week: “quiz walk” at JTH, exhibition in the HLK entrance

The university library has a book exhibition linked to sustainability and tips on social media about books and information search tricks.

Monday: sustainability mingle at HLK, The Decade Podcast, panel discussion, movie night

Tuesday: JIBS Shaping our Future Opens in new window., inspirational lecture, panel debate, workshop on “Jönköping 2030”. In collaboration with JUE.

Wednesday: HHJ lecture on the UN's sustainability goals, SSA presentation about sustainable food consumption and an excursion to a mushroom farm

Thursday: HHJ “Projekt Flicka”, HS and Höfab presentation about a Sustainable Campus, SSA workshop on circular economy, JTH presentation of winners from NES
