Graduates display talent for innovation at Xjobbsmässan

On Wednesday 29 May, students from the School of Engineering celebrated their graduation with Xjobbsmässan - an exhibition of their final thesis projects. Companies from the region came to the fair to meet potential recruits, take inspiration from the innovative ideas on display and award grants to students judged to have presented the best degree projects.

Xjobbsmässan in Campus Arena was filled with graduating students, dressed in their finest. They were there to show off the hard work and creativity that they have put into their final degree project. Approximately 50 student exhibitions, presenting degree projects from many different technical disciplines, were on display.

"It's great to see the results after three years of hard work," said Alyáa Tabaah, graduate on the Building Design with Architecture bachelor's programme. "For our project we worked with the Planning Department of Nässjö municipality, but today we have also had other municipalities come and talk to us about our ideas."

Project ideas were abundant and varied: from AI solutions for the National Forest Agency and a health monitoring system for smart homes, to a new prototype for wheels on a child's stroller, a prototype for an outdoor kitchen, and logistics solutions for Volvo's diesel engine manufacturing plants.

"I've come here today to see new ideas and innovations, and to meet potential recruits for Saab," said Michael Lidbäck, director of Live Traning at Saab Training Systems AB.

Calle Andersson, Business Developer at the digital agency Toxic Interactive Solutions was at Xjobbsmässan to give out a scholarship for web design and development.

"I've been visiting this fair for a couple of years and it's always interesting to see how students get involved in the business environment in the city and help companies innovate. Companies come to this fair to look for creativity, to find ideas that they couldn't come up with themselves," he explains.
