Open house welcomes prospective students

On Saturday, March 2, it was time for this year's Open House. Visitors from all over Sweden were curious about Jönköping University (JU) and what the university's four schools have to offer.

It was a rather cold Jönköping that welcomed visitors last Saturday for this year's Open House. A welcome tent on Campus offered visitors fika and was manned by staff who could direct way to specific schools. 

"We know that many people appreciate a personal welcome, it gives our visitors that little bit extra than if they were to simply read our website. To meet and talk with our students and our staff gives both information and a feeling that can only be reached by visiting us" said Hanna Vinborg, Marketing Manager responsible for national student recruitment at JU.

Those who wanted could go on guided tours of the school. There they got to look at all the buildings and find out more about JU. There was also a guided bus tour through Jönköping for those who wanted to see more of the city.

Campus Arena was a hive of activity. There visitors could, among other things, try out gaming with Justice - JU's eSports team, meet Jönköping's student union and also talk to JUSA - the students' own sports association.

Of course, there were also study counselors on site to provide advice on study and career choices. At the four schools, students from the various programmes were there to answer questions and speak about the different programmes. Each programme also had its own information pass where the visitors received a deeper insight into the education.

"I am interested in taking the Social Studies programme," revealed one school leaver to Open House. "It's interesting to learn about people's behaviors and work with vulnerable people in society. I want to make a difference."
