Lena Rosenberg

Lena Rosenberg is Professor in occupational therapy and head of dicipline for occupational therapy at JU. Her research explores the intersections and intricacies of everyday life and care in older people’s lives, specifically focusing on place, everyday life, and care practices.

Lena holds a PhD degree in occupational therapy from Karolinska Institutet. She became an Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet in 2020 and was appointed Professor of Occupational Therapy at the School of Health and Welfare, Jönköping University, in September 2022.

Her research initiatives promote close ties with eldercare, fostering connections between academia and municipalities. In her research, she welcomes diverse perspectives from healthcare sciences, anthropology, sociology, ethics, architecture, design, and science and technology studies (STS). 

Current research projects led by Lena Rosenberg: 

Understanding the relationships connecting everyday life, care, and the physical environment in nursing homes – a new collaborative framework (The 4Q project). Funded by FORTE 2023-2025. Collaboration with Karolinska Institutet, Uppsala University, Nestor FoU Center, Marge architects, LAND architects, and Länsgården Örebro county. 

Nursing homes as technological habitats – Digital technology supporting everyday citizenship, participation, and dignity for nursing home residents. Funded by FORTE 2024-2026. Collaboration with Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University, Linneus University, and Jönköping municipality. PhD student Ida Adolfsson.

She is also leading a project financed by the Swedish Research Council in collaboration with Jönköping municipality about the prerequisites for integrated care in nursing homes: Nursing homes as places for integrated care – everyday life and care practices. PhD student Therese Jonsson.
