Merit award and Honorary Professorship for Karl Erik Gustafsson
Professor Emeritus Karl Erik Gustafsson has accepted the emma award for his continuing outstanding research in media economics. At the same time, he was appointed honorary professor of Moscow State University.
“I suppose I won the award for long and faithful service, persistence and productivity,” said Professor Gustafsson in an interview with local newspaper Jönköpings-Posten.
The European Media Management Education Association (emma) is an international not-for-profit organisation that was founded in 2003 in response to the dramatic growth in media management courses and programmes at higher education institutions throughout Europe. Since 2007 the European Media Management Education Association each year awards a leading figure from the industry or from academia who has made an outstanding individual contribution to media management or to its study.
Professor Gustafsson was awarded the Honorary Professorship for his contribution to the faculty of journalism at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
He has studied mass media economics since the 1970s and has been a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Advertising and an expert on mass media to the Swedish Encyclopaedia. Gustafsson has been a columnist in trade journals and has served in various positions in government commissions on mass media. Today he works at the Media Management and Transformation Centre at Jönköping International Business School.
